Due to the health emergency society is going through and because of the socio-economic context that many families are facing during this pandemic, as an organization of the civil society, we are carrying out the National Scout Volunteering Plan. With the help of more than 250 Scout Groups located in vulnerable contexts, Scouts of Argentina Civil Association is organizing reinforced “merenderos” (places in which people in need go to eat snacks, lunch or dinner for free) and have been preparing food for the families who live in disadvantaged neighbourhoods during these past months. In these communities, where the Association have been working for years, this Plan is taking place during the weekends and some week days as well.
More than 9000 scout volunteers have been preparing food and snacks in the infrastructure that Scouts of Argentina has throughout the national territory. The needed resources to strengthen our social work come from donations from individuals, private companies and government bodies, in addition to Scouts of Argentina’s own contributions of the strengthening program.
Besides this reinforced comedores and merenderos, this Plan has many more initiativas that have been growing and adapting to the changing context.
